Guadalajara International Book Fair

FIL 2018 – Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara
24 November – 2 December 2018
Guadalajara, Mexico

Welcome to Germany’s official participation at the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2018!

The German Pavilion is presented by Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in cooperation with AUMA, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, organized and supported by Frankfurter Buchmesse, a subsidiary of the German Publishers & Booksellers Association (Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels).

Germany is participating in this book fair because of the many possibilities for cultural and economic exchange.

New contemporary fiction, non-fiction, academic, educational and scientific titles, children’s and teenage publications from Germany will be on show.

Personal contacts with the German publishing industry, information on the Frankfurter Buchmesse and exchange with the international book market: the German Pavilion does so much more than simply inviting you to discover the contemporary editorial panorama in Germany.

Reading a book is still one of the most popular leisure activities in Germany. And of course reading is linked to the wish for lifelong learning.

82,600 new titles were published in Germany in 2017: fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, art and photography books, reissues of great German authors and thinkers of the past, as well as current academic, scientific and educational publications. In 2017, nearly 7,900 German titles were translated into over 40 languages. English is still the dominant language of origin for translations into German, with a total share of 64,2 per cent.

On behalf of all exhibitors, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry and the supporting association wish all participants a successful show and extend a warm welcome to all visitors of the German Pavilion at the International Area, stand II 2.
